1. What BetterText does
BetterText is a web app that rewrites text using AI. You submit text, choose a writing style, and receive an improved version.
2. Accepting these terms
By using BetterText, you agree to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy.
3. Who can use BetterText
You can use BetterText as a guest or with an account through Clerk. You are responsible for all activity tied to your account or guest session.
4. Your content
Only submit text you own or have permission to use. You are responsible for what you submit and for how you use the output. Do not submit text that would break the law, violate an agreement, share confidential information, or infringe someone else's rights.
BetterText processes your text to provide the rewrite. As described in the Privacy Policy, submitted text and rewritten output are not stored in our database.
5. Acceptable use
You may not use BetterText to:
- break the law or help others do so;
- infringe someone's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights;
- submit malicious code or interfere with the service;
- evade usage restrictions or billing controls;
- scrape, overload, or probe the service in a way that risks its stability or security.
We may limit, suspend, or end your access if we believe your use breaks these terms or harms the service.
6. Usage limits
BetterText applies limits by tier. We may change these at any time.
Free tier features, limits, and availability are subject to change at any time without prior notice.
If you exceed an applicable limit, access to certain features may be restricted, delayed, or unavailable until the relevant usage period resets or your plan changes.
7. Paid subscriptions
Paid plans are billed through Stripe. BetterText does not store your payment card details.
When you subscribe:
- you authorise Stripe to charge your payment method each billing period;
- subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled;
- if you cancel, your paid access continues until the end of the current billing period; no refunds are issued for the unused portion;
- BetterText stores your Stripe customer ID and, while your plan is active, your Stripe subscription ID.
Pricing and billing details are shown at checkout or in the billing portal.
8. Accounts and deletion
Clerk handles sign-up, sign-in, and account management. If you delete your account through Clerk, BetterText deletes your usage and billing records. Any active Stripe subscription is cancelled as part of that process.
Guest use does not create a Clerk account. BetterText may keep an anonymous usage record tied to your guest session, as described in the Privacy Policy.
9. AI output
AI output may be incomplete, inaccurate, biased, or unsuitable for your purpose. Review output before you use, send, or publish it. BetterText is not a substitute for professional, legal, or editorial advice.
10. Third-party services
BetterText uses:
- OpenAI for text generation;
- Clerk for authentication;
- Stripe for billing.
These providers have their own terms and policies that may apply to you.
11. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy describes how we handle personal data. By using BetterText, you acknowledge that your text is processed through our servers and sent to OpenAI.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
BetterText is provided "as is" and "as available," to the extent permitted by law. We make no warranties that the service will meet your expectations, that output will be accurate or fit for a particular purpose, or that the service will run without interruption or error.
13. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, BetterText and its operators are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the service, including lost data, lost profits, or lost business opportunities.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms at any time. The "Last updated" date will reflect any significant changes.
